I literally just got off the phone with someone here at Sussex Professionals.
I'd sent a message out introducing myself, and he gave me a call.
A really great bloke really good bloke.
We ended up chatting about our businesses, what we both do, the sorts of people we work with and where there might be some crossover...
Then he asked me a really simple question about The Quiet Wealth Club..
So what actually is it? Is it wellbeing?
And I said something along the lines of..
Yeah… kind of.
Then we carried on talking.
But after I put the phone down, I thought..
Actually, no. That's not quite it.
Because if you came to me and said..
Ben, I need more clients.
I'm not going to tell you to meditate and take the afternoon off.
We're going to look at why you don't have enough clients.
Maybe your offer isn't good enough.
Maybe not enough people know you exist.
Maybe you don't know how to sell.
Maybe you're not having enough conversations.
Maybe you genuinely don't know what to do next.
Those are business problems.
And sometimes you need a better strategy right?... a new skill or someone who knows something you don't.
But there's another version I see all the time.
You know what works.
You've done it before.
But business has gone quiet.
Money feels tight.
The pressure goes up.
And suddenly you're questioning everything.
You're changing things that were working.
Spending hours on stuff that doesn't really matter.
Avoiding the conversation you know you need to have.
Working later because you never quite feel like you've done enough.
Now the business problem has been joined by all the stuff you're doing because you're worried about the business problem.
And now we've got two problems.
That's much closer to what I'm interested in with Quiet Wealth.
Sometimes we need to work on the business.
Sometimes we need to work on what happens to you when running the business gets difficult.
Quite often it's a bit of both.
And part of my job is working out which one we're actually dealing with.
Because I don't think business owners need someone turning every problem into a mindset problem.
Sometimes your offer is just isn't very good.
Equally, I don't think another tactic, framework or productivity hack is always the answer either.
Sometimes you already know what needs doing.
The difficult bit is actually doing it when there's something on the line.
So no, I don't think I'd describe Quiet Wealth as wellbeing.
Will I hopefully help people feel less stressed, switch off more and enjoy their lives?
Absolutely.
But I also want them to make good decisions.
Have difficult conversations.
Learn the skills their business needs next.
And get better at handling themselves when things don't go to plan.
It's business coaching that remembers there's a human being running the business.
Cheers to the bloke who rang me this morning and accidentally helped me explain my own business better.
